GIU students celebrating in renovated classroom

Tuition. Laptops. Desks. Food. Whatever it takes to keep a Ghanaian child in school.

Through scholarships, technology, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and community support, GIU removes every barrier between a child and their education.

6,000+ lives transformed. 60+ scholarships. 62 laptops. 16 nurses trained. Classrooms rebuilt.

The Problem

In Ghana, 1 in 5 children drops out before junior high.

Poverty, not potential, decides who stays in school. GIU exists to change that equation — one student, one classroom, one community at a time.

Ghanaian children dropped out of school.

Ghana loses ~311,600 students from primary & JHS every year — one child every 101 seconds.

When a Birthday Became a Mission

Instead of a party, founder Kesse partnered with Ghanaian influencer Ama Judithto deliver rice, chicken, drinks, and cash to 100+ orphaned children at the Osu Children’s Home — Ghana’s oldest orphanage. Their response? They sang Happy Birthday.

“These children deserve to know that someone cares. When you feed a child, you're not just filling their stomach — you're filling their heart with hope.”

Why I Started GIU

April 2026

I grew up in Oyoko, Koforidua. I know what it costs a child in Ghana to stay in school — and what it costs them not to.

Every dollar that comes through GIU passes through my hands and my conscience. We are a volunteer board. No one here takes a salary. 87.8% of every gift goes directly to a child, a classroom, a clinic, a future.

If you give, you are not just funding a program. You are standing in for a parent who cannot afford a uniform, a teacher who cannot afford chalk, a child who is bright enough for the next grade but cannot afford the fees. Thank you for standing with us.

— Kesse

Sustainers Circle

Become the reason a child stays in school every month.

Monthly donors are why GIU never misses a tuition payment. Predictable funding means we can commit to a student through their entire school year — not just one semester at a time.
