From the Floor to a Future
Children at Beppoh Methodist Primary School had nothing. Now they have everything they need to learn.
They Called It a Classroom. It Was a Concrete Floor.
When GIU volunteers first walked into Beppoh Methodist Primary School in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of Ghana's Western Region, they didn't find a classroom. They found children sitting on a bare concrete floor, hunched over their notebooks, writing on their laps because there were no desks. No chairs. No furniture at all.
The walls were crumbling. The paint had peeled away years ago. The chalkboard was cracked and barely readable. When it rained, water poured through the roof and the children would move to one corner of the room, still trying to learn while sitting in puddles. The teacher had to choose: send them home, or teach them on a wet floor.
These children walked miles to get to school every day. They wanted to learn so badly that a concrete floor and a leaking roof couldn't stop them. But it was slowly breaking them.
Before GIU Arrived
These are the real photos. This is what the children at Beppoh endured every single day.
GIU and Credit One Bank Said “Not One More Day”
Within weeks, GIU mobilized. In partnership with Credit One Bank USA, the team organized a complete transformation. Walls were repainted. Modern whiteboards replaced cracked chalkboards. And 25 brand-new desks and marker boards were delivered — each one stamped with the words “Donated by Greatness In You — Credit One Bank USA.”
Community leaders and parents joined the effort, contributing labor and helping with painting. The entire village came out to witness the transformation. When the children walked in for the first time and saw their new classroom, they didn't just sit down — they stood on their chairs, threw their hands in the air, and screamed with joy.
For the first time in their lives, these children had a desk. A real desk with their name's worth stamped on it. A desk that said: you matter. Your education matters. Your future matters.

After — A Place of Dignity
Every desk. Every smile. Every hand raised. This is what transformation looks like.
Every Desk Tells a Story
Each desk stamped “Donated by GIU” is a daily reminder to these children that someone — maybe thousands of miles away — believes in their potential. It is a small thing, a desk. But to a child who has only ever known the cold floor, it is everything. It communicates dignity. It says: you deserve better. And you're getting it.
Before the renovation, teachers reported absenteeism rates of over 30%. In the term following the renovation, attendance climbed to nearly 95%. The children didn't just come back — they wanted to stay. Because for the first time, school felt like a place that wanted them back.
There Are More Classrooms Like This One
For as little as $500, GIU can furnish an entire classroom with new desks. Right now, children in other schools are still sitting on concrete floors. You can change that today.
