“This generator is a life saver. Last year there were hundreds of maternal deaths due to lack of electricity. Thanks to GIU and Kwabena Kesse, the founder, all that has been eliminated going forward. We owe our lives and gratitude to him.”

A Life-Saving Intervention

The Oyoko Health Centre in the Eastern Region of Ghana is a critical healthcare facility serving surrounding communities with an estimated 150,000+ patient visits annually. For years, unreliable electricity had devastating consequences — power outages during surgical procedures, inability to refrigerate vaccines and blood supplies, and tragically, maternal deaths during childbirth when lights went dark mid-delivery.

In January 2025, Greatness In You (GIU) stepped in with a transformative donation: a 7.5 KVA generatorthat ensures the clinic can operate without interruption. The donation ceremony brought together GIU's founding team, community chiefs, health officials, and media — including coverage by 3News Ghana.

With reliable power, the Oyoko Health Centre can now maintain proper cold-chain storage for vaccines, operate medical equipment during emergencies, keep lights on during deliveries, and provide safe care at all hours. For a community that depends on this single facility, the generator isn't just equipment — it's the difference between life and death.

Community Engagement

The event went beyond the generator donation. GIU team members distributed care packages to community members, engaged with local leaders and traditional chiefs, and discussed ongoing healthcare needs to plan future interventions. The event was attended by media who captured the ceremony for national coverage on 3News Ghana.

“Before the generator, mothers in labor had to be turned away when the power went out. Now our clinic runs day and night. This is what happens when someone remembers where they came from.”
