62 Laptops. 1 Innovation Center. Infinite Possibilities.
GIU didn't just donate laptops — we built a home for digital learning
Introducing the GIU Innovation Center
When GIU set out to donate laptops, we realized that a laptop without a place to learn is only half the solution. So we built something bigger — the GIU Innovation Center, a dedicated space where students can access technology, attend digital literacy workshops, participate in virtual seminars, and develop the skills the modern economy demands.
In partnership with Libraries Without Walls and AAOFI, GIU launched the Innovation Center with 62 laptops, a Library in a Box digital learning system, and a full STEM education curriculum. Founder Kwabena Kesse addressed the students virtually from the United States during the grand opening — proving that distance is no barrier when the mission is real. Students who had never touched a computer before are now coding, designing, and connecting to the world.
This isn't charity. This is infrastructure. This is building the foundation for Ghana's next generation of innovators.

Inside the GIU Innovation Center
From the grand opening to the first virtual seminar — a space built for greatness
The Grand Opening — National Television Coverage
TV3 Ghana covered the launch of the GIU Innovation Center live. Board Member Jeremy Simpson was interviewed on the mission, the partnership with Libraries Without Walls and AAOFI, and what this center means for the future of education in Ghana.

“When I saw these children touch a laptop for the first time, I knew this was bigger than donations — this was opening a door they didn't know existed. Being a GIU volunteer means being part of something that actually changes lives. I've never been more proud.”
Laptops in the Field — Taking Tech to Every School
Beyond the Innovation Center, GIU's team travels to schools across Ghana with laptops, teaching materials, and hands-on STEM workshops. In partnership with AAOFI and Libraries Without Walls, students in remote communities are experiencing digital learning for the first time — using Library in a Box technology that works even without internet.
The look on a child's face when they touch a laptop for the first time is something you never forget. For these students, it's not just a machine — it's a window to a world they didn't know existed.
